My journey in education spans many years and has been shaped by the students, families, staff, and communities I have had the privilege of serving. Each role throughout my career has provided me with a different perspective on education and has strengthened my belief that a thriving school community begins with strong relationships, collaboration, and a genuine commitment to supporting every child.

One quote that has continued to resonate with me throughout my career is Dr. James P. Comer's belief that "No significant learning can happen without a significant relationship." This philosophy is at the heart of how I approach my work. Before we can truly support a student, family, or staff member, we must first take the time to build trust, listen, and understand their needs.

I began my career as a School Community Coordinator, where I spent several years working closely with students, families, staff, and community partners. In this role, I focused on bridging the gap between home, school, and the community. It was through this work that I truly began to understand the important role each stakeholder plays in a child's success. I learned the value of listening, building trust, connecting families with resources, and creating meaningful partnerships. Most importantly, I saw firsthand how relationships can create a sense of belonging and open doors to opportunities for students and families. The skills and perspective I gained during those years continue to influence the way I lead today.

I later transitioned into the role of School Counselor, which challenged me to grow both personally and professionally as an educator. Working directly with students and families reinforced the importance of supporting not only academic success but also the social and emotional well-being of our entire school community. I learned how to navigate difficult and sensitive situations with empathy, patience, and professionalism while collaborating with teachers, administrators, families, and community partners. This experience strengthened my leadership skills and reinforced something I had learned early in my career: when people feel heard, valued, and supported, we create stronger conditions for students to learn and succeed.

Today, I am honored to serve as the Director of Human Resources and Operations. Stepping into this role has challenged me in new ways and has allowed me to recognize the impact I can have on our school community from a broader perspective. I now have the opportunity to bring together everything I have learned throughout my career to strengthen the people, relationships, systems, and operations that allow our school and students to thrive.

My approach to leadership continues to be grounded in relationships and in being present, accessible, and willing to step in wherever I am needed. Whether that means being outside on the playground with our students, supporting a staff member who needs a moment to regroup, assisting an instructional aide who needs guidance, helping a family navigate a difficult situation, or working behind the scenes to strengthen our school systems, I believe every interaction matters. Leadership, to me, is not simply about a title or position. It is about listening, serving, building trust, and creating an environment where people know they are valued and supported.

As I continue to grow as an educator and leader, my goal is to provide unwavering support to our students, families, and staff while continuing to learn from the many voices within our community. Those voices have shaped who I am and continue to remind me why relationships must remain at the center of our work. By listening, collaborating, reflecting, and continuously striving to improve, I hope to help our school flourish as a community where every student, family, and staff member feels connected, supported, and empowered to thrive.
